The sun over the Kingdom of Fluffington was so bright it looked like a giant, glowing lemon. In the middle of the town square, a crowd of fluffy animals had gathered, their eyes wide with excitement. At the center stood three pairs of wings, each attached to a very round, very bouncy dragon.
The dragons were not made of fire or scales. They were made of giant, colorful marshmallows and bungee cords!
The first pair of wings fluttered belonged to Barnaby, a tiny dragon with blue fur and a name tag that said, Captain of Clouds. The second pair belonged to Pip, a dragon with spots on his wings like a dalmatian. The third pair belonged to Zora, a dragon with purple ears and a very serious expression.
"Ready?" Barnaby squeaked, adjusting his goggles, which were actually two slices of orange. "Absolutely not ready, but running fast anyway," Zora said, tightening the bungee cord around her waist. "Don't worry!" Pip laughed, bouncing so high he almost hit the clouds.
A giant horn blew, sounding like a squeaky rubber duck.
GO!
The marshmallow dragons launched into the air. But they didn't fly like birds. They flew like giant, puffy balloons that someone had pushed too hard.
Barnaby zoomed forward, his marshmallow belly wobbling left and right. "Whoa! I'm going to wobble into a tree!" he cried. But he didn't hit a tree. Instead, his tail bumped a passing sheep. The sheep, named Wooly, giggled and tripped, causing a wobbly slide of wool that slid down the hill and tickled Barnaby's tummy.
"Hahaha! That tickles!" Barnaby did a loop-de-loop, his wings flapping so hard he spun like a top.
Pip was doing great until he saw a giant, floating balloon dog made of pink fabric. "Look at that!" Pip shouted. He tried to dodge the balloon dog, but his marshmallow wings got caught on a nearby bush of giant dandelions. Suddenly, Pip was stuck in a giant, fluffy cloud of seeds.
"Pip, let go!" Zora shouted, weaving through the air with her long purple tail. She reached out and gently pulled the dandelion seeds away. "There, you're free!"
Pip tumbled out of the seeds, rolling like a ball. "I love rolling!" Pip laughed. He rolled right into a pile of soft hay.
The race was nearing the finish line, a giant cake with a single candle on top. But just as they were about to cross the line, a problem appeared. A giant, friendly griffin with feathers as soft as feathers stopped in the middle of the path. The griffin was holding a very tall, very wobbly stack of pancakes.
"Oh no!" Zora stopped, her wings fluttering fast. "The pancakes!" "Don't touch them!" Barnaby warned, hovering nearby. "They look delicious," Pip whispered, his eyes watering.
The grignon looked at the pancakes, then at the race. "Whoops! I must eat these before they fall!" the grignon said, his voice deep and booming. He started to lift a pancake to his mouth, but the stack was so wobbly that one pancake slipped right off. It flew straight toward the finish line, landing perfectly in the middle of the cake.
"Did you see that?" Zora gasped. "That's the winning spot!" Pip cheered. "But... the grignon still has the other pancakes!" Barnaby worried.
Suddenly, the grignon sneezed. It was a big, fluffy sneeze that sent all the remaining pancakes flying into the sky like a confetti explosion.
"They're going to land on the finish line!" Zora shouted. "But we need to cross first!" Pip said.
The three marshmallow dragons looked at each other. They didn't have time to wait for the pancakes to fall. They had to decide what to do.
"We can't just wait!" Barnaby said, his wings buzzing with energy. "No, we have to help them land safely," Zora said wisely. "Together!" Pip agreed.
They turned their marshmallow faces toward the falling pancakes. "I'll catch the small ones!" "I'll catch the big ones!" "And I'll make sure they all land on the cake!"
The pancakes began to fall like snowflakes made of syrup and butter. The dragons spread their wide, colorful wings and flew straight up to meet them. It was a chaotic, delicious, and very funny sight to watch. Marshmallow dragons and sticky pancakes danced in the air.
Just as the last pancake was about to hit the ground, Barnaby caught it right in his mouth.
"Got it!" Barnaby shouted. He gently placed the pancake on top of the cake.
The crowd cheered loudly. "You did it!" the grignon clapped, his wings beating softly. "You saved the race!"
The three dragons landed right in the middle of the crowd. They were all covered in a little bit of sticky syrup, and their wings were slightly squashed from all the bouncing.
"We did it!" Pip laughed, wiping syrup from his nose. "But wait," Zora said, looking up at the sky. She pointed a wing toward a dark, swirling cloud that wasn't there before. "Look up!"
The other two dragons looked up. The dark cloud was moving fast, and inside it, they saw tiny, glittering sparks flying in every direction.
"Oh my!" Barnaby squinted. "Those look like... more pancakes?" "Or maybe," Zora said, her eyes wide with wonder, "maybe something even bigger is coming our way."
The three marshmallow dragons stood still, looking up at the mysterious, glittering cloud. They knew their adventure wasn't over yet. In fact, it was just beginning.
