Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-18

This policy explains how the website at tellerio.com ("the Site") handles your information. The Tellerio mobile apps for iOS and Android have a separate privacy policy with different practices — please read both if you use both the apps and the Site.

Operator and data controller

The Site is operated by:

Volker Arndt is the data controller for the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR. The information above is also published in compliance with Article 10 of Spanish Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE).

What we collect, and why

We collect only what's needed to run the Site:

The story inputs you type into the demo (character name, topic, etc.) are sent to our generation backend and processed in memory. They are not written to disk or otherwise retained, and the generated story and audio are streamed to your browser without being saved server-side.

Is providing your data required?

You can browse the Site, read the blog, and use the install links without providing any personal data. The newsletter and the in-browser demo at /try/ require an email address — without one, those specific features can't function. You're under no contractual or legal obligation to provide your data; it's your choice whether to use those features.

Local storage on your device

Once you've given us your email, the Site keeps a copy in your browser's localStorage under the key tellerio_email so the demo doesn't ask you again on return visits. This is a convenience layer on top of the email you've already provided — no extra data is collected. You can clear it at any time via your browser's site-data settings. We don't set tracking cookies; the only cookie you may see is a short-lived Cloudflare anti-bot challenge cookie when Cloudflare Turnstile is active.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of processors to run the Site:

We do not sell, trade, or rent your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

Children

The Site is intended for adults choosing to read or generate stories for the children in their lives, and is not directed at children under 13. To start the demo you submit a name and a story topic; everything else is optional. These inputs are sent to our generation backend, used to produce the story, and not retained — they are not written to disk or logged. We do not knowingly collect personal data from or about children under 13 (in compliance with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, COPPA). If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site, contact us and we will delete it.

Legal basis (EU/UK GDPR)

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these, email tellerio@cognicores.com from the address on file. We will respond within 30 days.

International transfers

Some of our processors (notably Resend) operate in the United States. Where personal data leaves the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).

For US visitors (CCPA / CPRA)

We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request its deletion, and to be free from discrimination for exercising your privacy rights. To exercise any of these rights, email tellerio@cognicores.com.

How we keep your data safe

All traffic to and from the Site is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Our processors (Cloudflare, Resend) hold relevant security certifications and store data in encrypted form at rest. We don't run the Site on shared hosting; the demo backend is on hardware we control. No system is perfectly secure, but we follow common-sense practices and limit access to the minimum needed to operate the Site.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced via the newsletter for subscribers; otherwise the updated text takes effect when posted.
