Penny was not a dragon. Penny was a very small, very fluffy white cloud-dragon who lived high up in the sky where the air smelled like cotton candy and fresh rain. One sunny morning, while chasing a butterfly that tasted like vanilla, Penny accidentally flew right through the window of the Grumpy-Green Dragon's castle.
Penny tumbled down, down, down, until *thump!* she landed softly in a pile of giant, squishy moss.
The moss was green and sparkled with tiny silver stars. Lying on top of the moss was a big, heavy stone door. Carved into the stone were eyes that blinked when you weren't looking directly at them.
"Oh no!" squeaked Penny, flapping her tiny wings. "I landed in the wrong place! This must be the lair of the Grumpy-Green Dragon!"
Just then, a deep, rumbly voice boomed from inside the cave.
"No need to be so loud, little cloud! I am not Grumpy-Green. I am Glimmer, the Guardian of Lost Things!"
A dragon with scales that shone like emeralds and a smile that showed two perfect missing teeth popped out from behind a pile of glowing mushrooms. Glimmer was not grumpy at all; he was just very shy.
"You're not Grumpy-Green?" asked Penny, floating up a little. "But the books say the dragon with the green castle eats shiny rocks for breakfast!"
"Those books are wrong!" laughed Glimmer, his belly rumbling like a distant thunderstorm. "I only eat sparkling berries and drink water from the Fountain of Happy Bubbles. And right now, I need your help!"
Penny's wings stopped shaking. She liked helping.
"How can I help a big, shy dragon?" asked Penny.
"There are three secret keys hidden in this cave," explained Glimmer, leading the way deeper into the lair. "If we find them and put them in the correct holes, the Great Sparkle will return to the world. But be careful! The cave is full of tricky puzzles and sleeping slumber-stones."
They walked past a river that flowed upward, carrying bubbles that made you giggle every time they popped. Then, they came to a wall made of bouncy jelly.
"A jelly wall!" said Penny, her eyes wide. "Do we have to punch it?"
"No! We need the Key of Bouncing!" Glimmer pointed to a small, golden key hanging from a vine that looked like a giant green snake. "But it is guarded by a very strict librarian named Mrs. Tickles."
Suddenly, a small creature with glasses and a long nose appeared. It was Mrs. Tickles, who was actually a friendly dragonet who loved organizing things.
"Halt!" cried Mrs. Tickles, holding a book with a face on it. "Who goes there? And why are you making that bouncy sound with your wings?"
"Just a little hop!" said Penny politely. "We need the Key of Bouncing to open the door to the next room!"
"I am Glimmer, and this is Penny the Cloud-Dragon," said Glimmer, bowing low. "We are looking for the three secret keys to fix the Great Sparkle. We promise not to break anything."
"Very well," said Mrs. Tickles, adjusting her glasses. "To get the key, you must answer my question correctly. What is the opposite of quiet?"
Penny thought hard. She thought about how she made noise when she sneezed.
"Loud!" shouted Penny happily.
"Correct!" said Mrs. Tickles, beaming. "Here is your Key of Bouncing. Take it, but remember, it only works for you and your friend Glimmer. It does not work for anyone else."
Penny took the golden key. It felt warm and cozy, like a sunbeam. They moved on, and soon they reached a bridge made of musical notes. Every time a step was taken, it played a different sound.
"Now we need the Key of Music," said Glimmer. "It is hidden inside a giant organ that only sings if you sing the right tune."
Penny closed her eyes and hummed a little tune. *Hum-hum-hum-hum.* The bridge shook slightly.
"Not quite," said Glimmer. "The bridge wants to hear a happy song."
"Okay," said Penny. "Let's sing 'The Song of the Fluffy Clouds'!"
They started to sing. It was a silly song about soft clouds and warm suns. As they sang, the musical notes on the bridge turned into colorful ribbons that danced around them. The organ in the middle of the room opened its huge mouth and played a beautiful melody.
*Beep-boop-zoom!* A second key, made of silver and shaped like a musical note, floated down into Glimmer's hands.
"We have the Key of Music!" cheered Glimmer. "Now for the final key, the Key of Courage. It is behind the Door of Doubts."
They approached the last door. It was made of fog and looked very foggy.
"I am a little scared," whispered Glimmer. "What if the Key of Courage is too heavy for me?"
"You are not scared, Glimmer!" said Penny firmly. "You are brave because you are helping me. And I am brave because I am helping you. Together, we are the strongest dragons in the sky!"
"Together!" agreed Glimmer, puffing up his chest.
Penny held up the golden Key of Bouncing, and Glimmer held up the silver Key of Music. They placed them in the foggy door. The fog didn't move.
"We need the third key!" said Penny.
Just then, a tiny, sparkly key made of pure light floated out from behind Glimmer's ear.
"Did you know I had a secret key?" giggled Glimmer. "It was hiding right here, waiting for us to be brave!"
They all laughed and placed the light key in the third slot. The fog door burst open with a flash of blinding light, but instead of a scary monster, a giant, friendly turtle with a shell made of stars stepped out.
"Welcome!" said the turtle in a slow, sleepy voice. "I am the Keeper of the Great Sparkle. You have found all three keys!"
The turtle held out a huge, glowing crystal that lit up the entire cave. The light spread out, turning the moss into flowers and the mushrooms into lanterns.
"Look!" said Penny, her eyes shining. "The cave is beautiful!"
"It is!" said Glimmer. "The Great Sparkle is back, and the whole world will be filled with joy again."
But as the light filled the cave, Penny noticed something strange. The crystal was glowing brighter and brighter, and a new door was appearing on the wall where there was none before.
"Glimmer," said Penny, pointing to the new door. "That door is opening, and it looks like it leads to the Sky Garden of Laughs!"
"The Sky Garden of Laughs?" asked Glimmer, his eyes widening. "I have never heard of such a place before. Is it far away?"
"It looks very close," said Penny. "And I think we should go see what is inside. But wait, do we have all the keys we need for this new door?"
Glimmer looked at his hands. He held the golden and silver keys, but the new door had four holes instead of three.
"Oh no!" said Glimmer. "We need a fourth key, but we only have three. Where will we find it?"
Penny smiled, her fluffy white wings fluttering excitedly.
"I think we know where to look," said Penny. "The next adventure is just beginning, and I am so ready to go!"
The new door creaked open, revealing a tunnel that smelled like popcorn and rainbow sprinkles. Penny and Glimmer took one step forward, ready for whatever was waiting on the other side.
