The sun shone brightly in the sky, casting a warm glow over the small town of Willow Creek. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers and the sound of birds chirping. It was a perfect spring morning.

In a cozy little house on Elm Street, six-year-old Emma was busy helping her mom, Sarah, prepare for the big Mother's Day bake-off. Emma loved baking and was excited to show off her skills.

"Mom, can I help you make the cake?" Emma asked, her eyes wide with excitement.

"Of course, sweetie," Sarah replied, handing Emma a small bowl.

They spent the morning measuring out ingredients and mixing batter. Emma's little brother, Max, two years old, watched with curiosity from his high chair.

"Cake! Cake!" Max exclaimed, banging his spoon on the tray.

"Not yet, Max," Emma said with a chuckle.

As they put the cake in the oven, Sarah's best friend, Rachel, stopped by to help with the preparations.

"Hey, girls! I heard the bake-off is going to be a real competition this year. What are you making?"

"We're making a classic vanilla cake with strawberry frosting. Emma's been working on it all morning."

"And we're going to decorate it with a big 'Happy Mom' sign!" Emma said proudly.

Just as they were about to put the final touches on the cake, the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it. Maybe it's our neighbor, Mrs. Jenkins, with some last-minute tips."

Sarah got up to answer the door, leaving Emma and Rachel alone in the kitchen.

As soon as Sarah left, a strong gust of wind blew through the open window, sending Emma's carefully crafted cake decorations flying. The cake itself began to slip out of the oven.

"Oh no! The cake!" Emma cried out.

Rachel quickly grabbed a towel to save the cake, but in her haste, she knocked over a jar of strawberry frosting, spilling it all over the kitchen floor.

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry, Emma! What are we going to do now?"

Emma's face fell as she looked at the mess. But then, a mischievous glint appeared in her eye.

"We can make a new design! A strawberry-themed one, just like the mess we made!"

Rachel's eyes widened in surprise.

"That's a brilliant idea, Emma!"

As they worked on the new design, the oven timer went off, and the cake was still inside.

"Oh no! The cake is burning!" Emma cried out.

But it was too late. The cake was beyond saving.

As they frantically opened the oven door, a dark and ominous figure appeared at the window, silhouetted against the bright sunlight.

"Ah-ah, I don't think you'll be winning any prizes today, Emma," a mysterious voice said, her eyes gleaming with a sinister intent.

Emma's heart skipped a beat as she gazed up at the stranger, her eyes wide with fear...
